“The excursions are their superpower.

A guest wrote that, and it holds. The boats and gear are standard. What sets a Koimala trip apart is the person at the bow, reading the current and putting you in the right place at the right time.

The crew behind every trip

Not seasonal hires. They live here.

Every boat that leaves our jetty has a Koimala guide aboard. Rippon supervises the snorkelling excursions and knows the reef systems from years of daily work in the water. Guests write that among ten or twelve boats, he is the one who spots the whale shark first. Rifath coordinates from the hotel side, making sure timing, meals and gear are ready before you ask.

They fish these channels. They have been watching the same whale sharks for years.
